Valdosta wreck blocks two roads

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -  Two big trucks and two passenger vehicles collided about 11:30AM at the intersection of East Hill Avenue and Blanchard Street, blocking that area.

Five people were taken to hospitals for treatment.

One truck, hauling logs, spilled its load all over the road, and over 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into an adjacent ditch. The EPA and the DOT were notified of the spill.

The injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The log truck and one of the SUVs were on fire when emergency personnel arrived on scene.

"We wanted to make sure everybody was out of their vehicles and there wasn't any issues. We came in and started taking' care of small spot fires," said Cpt. James Clinkscales, Valdosta Fire Marshall.

VPD investigators are still working to figure out exactly what happened, but so far no charges have been filed.
