Meth-toting man runs from the law; leaves ID behind

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Tuesday night, a deputy with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop the driver of a reckless ATV on Wood Pecker Trail, just outside Douglas.

When his ATV broke down, Francis Lee Grantham took off running, but he left behind a backpack, and deputies found over a pound of methamphetamine, and his state-issued ID in it.

Detectives with the Douglas – Coffee Drug Unit searched Grantham's home, and seized a firearm, ammunition, a small amount of marijuana, digital scales, and drug-packaging materials.

Grantham is already on probation for an unrelated drug violation, and is wanted for trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and several traffic violations.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Francis Lee Grantham is asked to call 911, or the Coffee County Sheriff's Office at 912-384-4227.

Thomasville really embraces the Victorian era. It's a time in the city's history when it became a popular winter resort so it seems fitting that the Rose City's holiday theme focuses on this period. And the community gets into the spirit by dressing in Victorian-era clothing.
