THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - An Alabama man, accused of using other people's identities to make hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of purchases, has been booked in the Thomas county jail.
Troopers said 20-year-old Charles Cheeks led them on a high speed chase Saturday night in Brooks county.
When he finally stopped in Thomas County, troopers discovered the Lexus he was driving and the license plate were stolen.
Troopers also found several fake I.D.s in the car.
Sergeant Tommy Peeples with Georgia State Patrol Post 12 said, “Over the past few months, he has stolen the identities of numerous people. He has purchased approximately 14 vehicles with these fake identities, totaling over half a million dollars."
Cheeks is now in custody without bond, waiting to be extradited to Alabama to face identity theft charges.
