Worth EMA welcomes new addition

Ray Salter Ray Salter
SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - Worth County Emergency Management now has a deputy director.

Battalion Chief Ray Salter, with the Worth County Fire Department, was surprised with a badge for his new title.

Salter recently completed two years of training.

Officials say it's beneficial for the county to have two EMA staff members since the county does experience flooding.

"We've had a lot of flooding issues. Due to the size of the county and the environment we have. But it is a big feat for the citizens to help out to have two EMA personnel on staff," Salter said.

Salter will now manage personnel and help with day to day EMA activities.

He's been with the Worth County Fire Department for 17 years.
