Coffee sheriff asks for information in girl's death

A thirteen year old girl died last week, on Sioux trail, just off Willacoochee Highway, southeast of Douglas.

The sheriff's office will not identify her, but Tuesday issued a news release asking for help from the public, saying they want any information anyone may have, regarding her death.

Here is the release from the sheriff, with contact information-

Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten, Douglas, GA

On June 5, 2015 at approximately 4:21 P.M. Deputies were dispatched in reference to a possible death of a 13 year old female. Investigators were called to the scene and later requested assistance from the GBI's Crime Scene Agent to assist in process the scene.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday and Investigators are awaiting a preliminary report from the Medical Examiner.

I asked that if you have any information regarding this case that you please contact Detective Fred Cole or Detective Jamie Hersey at the Coffee County Sheriff's Office.

This is an ongoing case and these Investigators would like to talk to friends, teachers and acquaintances to try to determine why this tragedy occurred and hopefully prevent it from occurring again.

My condolences and prayers go out to the family and friends of this young lady as they move forward.
