The Albany Fire Department is fully staffed.
With the graduation of 19 new firefighters, all of the department's 172 full-time firefighter positions are staffed.
Fire Chief Ron Rowe said this is the first time in his 30 years with A-F-D that he can remember them being fully staffed.
With those 19 new firefighters completing their 10-weeks of training, Rowe says the community is safer.
"If we have 3 people coming, or 4 people coming, or 20 people coming, it's the same amount of work," said Rowe. "So us being fully staffed really lightens the load on the individuals. As well as gives up opportunity to protect the public better."
Chief Rowe said being fully staffed will save the city money because they will not have to pay overtime or part-timers to meet daily staffing needs.
