Second victim identified in Valdosta homicide case

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Police Department said late Saturday morning that Friday night's homicide was not a random act and appeared to be drug related.

Investigators have confirmed one person was found dead at the scene.

According to a press release from VPD, 25-year-old Marquivius Brockington was found dead inside his home at 5260 Fortress Cir. around 11:45 p.m. He appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release.

The report also states that there was another victim at the scene named Toni Tucker, but the extent of her injuries is currently unknown.

Investigators also located meth and marijuana in the home.

Officers initially responded to the home for a report of shots fired. A woman on scene told police that she had stopped by to visit someone there, but when she arrived she heard arguing inside the home and then gun shots.

She told police that a person wearing all dark clothing, had their face covered and ran out towards the back of the home shortly after the shots were heard from inside the home.

The person reportedly fired several shots at the woman, but she was not hit.

A K-9 unit was brought in to search for the suspected shooter, but as of 10 a.m. Saturday no arrest had been made.

Neighbors told WALB Saturday morning that police had asked them not to speak to the media, but neighbors did say off camera that the whole incident was crazy and that they never expected anything like this to happen.

One neighbor who was home at the time of the shooting said she heard the gunshots, but thought they were fireworks.

Anyone having any further information regarding this crime is urged to contact the Valdosta Police Department at 229-242-2606 or can remain anonymous at 229-293-3091. Anyone having knowledge of the location of the suspect should call 911 immediately.
