CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Recently, Mitchell County law enforcers warned citizens to lock up four wheelers and lawn equipment, after a four-wheeler was taken off Gravel Hill Road. Sheriff's investigators say the owners left the keys in the ignition.
A lawn mower on a trailer was also taken and dumped along Highway 112.
Now a Crisp County homeowner is out of almost $8,000 worth of lawn equipment.
Thieves stole a trailer and two lawn mowers from the back of a house on Macedonia Church Road. The homeowner says it happened overnight while the trailer was still attached to the truck.
Investigators remind you that lawn mower thefts increase when summer rolls around.
"If you can't store it in a shed and you have it on a trailer like in this instant, go ahead and get you a lock for your trailer hitch and put it on there," said Sgt. Ben Bray with Crisp County Sheriff's Office.
If you have missing equipment, and can help stop these thieves, call the Crisp County Sheriff's Office.
