ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany will soon get a third Walmart. This one will be on North Slappey Blvd., across from Superior Creek Lodge.
Land is being cleared for a "Neighborhood" Walmart, and the old motel, formerly known as the Cricket Inn, will be demolished.
The former Georgia Car Credit building, which used to be a restaurant, will also be torn down.
They will clear everything between the former railroad bed and the All American Fun Park.
The timetable is not set in stone. "It's really up to the contractor. The developer has said, put in a kind of fast pace to get this done. As they were the other one," said Tracey Hester.
Walmart officials have their building permit, and will construct a Neighborhood Walmart, with groceries and gas, similar to the one on Gillionville Road.
