TIFTON, GA (WALB) - A Tifton man finds an unexpected visitor in a friend's backyard in Irwin County when Paul Sumner thought he discovered an injured hawk.
It turned out to be a bald eagle lying in a bush.
He took it to the Quailwood Animal hospital, and they confirmed that it is a baby bald eagle.
It was malnourished and could barely move.
"I've been doing this for nearly two years now, my wife and I, we feel like wildlife needs to be protected and helped," Sumner said.
The eagle will be taken to the Southeastern Raptor Center in Auburn for more treatment.
The recovery process should take a few months.
