Sumter County 4-H students helping first responders

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Sumter County 4-H students are raising money and helping local first responders at the same time. The students are selling house-number signs in Sumter and surrounding counties.

The $20 signs help firefighters, police officers, and other crews locate your house in case of an emergency.

"If they're out helping and raising money for such a good cause, it's just a great way to support them and to help our law enforcement and first responders," said Sumter County EMA Director Nigel Poole.

You can stop by the Sumter County Extension Office on US 19 to make an order.
