Red Cross encourages support from the community on National Giving Day

The American Red Cross is highlighting the work it does in your community. Tuesday is the organization's first National Giving Day to encourage donors to support the Red Cross.

Red Cross volunteers are helping flood victims in Texas and Oklahoma.

Nearly every day, they serve fire victims in South Georgia and they do so much more.

"We provide services to our military families every single day. We provide blood to people who need it every single day. We teach classes to teach people about lifesaving every single day, and we also help with disasters,” said Lara Gill Southwest Georgia Chapter Director.

So far, giving day has raised more than 2.1-million dollars nationwide.
