ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Tuesday, city commissioners approved the purchase of four compressed natural gas buses for Albany Transit.
A Compressed Natural Gas station will be installed at the Flint Avenue Transit Station.
It'll cost the city about $1.9 million, but leaders say it will save money in the long run.
"It's an advantage for us. It's good for the environment and it's going to be a much more efficient vehicle and save us a lot of money going forward," said Phil Roberson, Assistant City Manager
The buses should be delivered in the next three to six months which is when the Compressed Natural Gas station should be up and running.
