VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Red Cross was encouraging people Tuesday to donate to the organization, especially during the Summer months when donations are usually low.
Tuesday was the Red Cross's first ever national day of giving.
Board Members from the Red Cross chapter spent time calling past donors and prospective donors for donations. The chapter's executive director, Terri Jenkins, said this event was partly motivated by the recent flooding in Texas and Oklahoma.
"In light of everything that's gone on in Texas and Oklahoma, we are bringin' that awareness to donors and prospective donors to see if they would like to support the Red Cross," Jenkins explained.
