Arson charge could becoming for weekend fire

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta fire investigators continued to work with Valdosta Police Monday to find out who set clothes on fire at an apartment.

Around 9:15 Saturday night, someone broke through a side window of apartment A at 409 West St. and set some clothes on fire. The suspect then ran to the back yard and set more clothes on fire before running away.

"The dollar amount, it's not much in dollar amount of damage. It could lead to a small arson charge," said Valdosta Fire Marshal Cpt. James Clinkscales.

Cpt. Clinkscales said it was still not clear Monday what, exactly, may have been used to start the fires but no liquid accelerants were believed to have been used.

No one was hurt. Call Valdosta Police if you have any information about the suspect.
