Americus teens arrested for stealing, armed robbery

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Three teenagers were arrested Sunday in Americus, all for stealing, and a previous armed robbery.

18-year-old Styles Rainer Dodson of Lewis Lowe Court, along with 15-year-olds Adrian Johnson and Jakeem Carter are all charged with armed robbery.

Johnson and Carter had a court hearing Monday morning, and were remanded to Superior Court, where a bond will be considered. They were returned to the  Crisp County Youth Detention Center, where they were being held.

About 12:40 Sunday morning, police got a call about a theft on East Church Street.  They chased a suspect on foot to the parking lot of Krystal on Tripp Street. and took the 15 year old into custody.

They eventually charged him with Theft by Taking, Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers. Then they discovered that he is the person they wanted for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault on May 21st, on South Lee Street.

Then another 15 year old juvenile and 18 year old Styles Rainer Dodson were each charged with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Aggravated Assault in connection with that May 21st Armed Robbery on South Lee Street.

Styles is in the Sumter County jail.

The investigation is ongoing as it relates to other crimes in the area and any further comment will be made by the District Attorney of the Southwest Judicial Circuit.
