Library system kicks off summer reading

Parents and their kids packed into the Leesburg library for a special super hero show by Dr. Magical Balloons. Children listened intently to the the interactive story time.

This year's theme to the summer reading program is "Every Hero has a Story."

Organizers say this is a fun way to make sure children read all summer long. "A lot of times when you're out of school for summer you do get that learning loss that's associated with that. And we want to help stop that and make it something fun too," said Michael Kennedy, the library assistant."

The fun continues Friday at 6 pm, with a free superhero scavenger hunt at the Oakland library in Lee County.

It's called Super heroes Unite, where the good guys will help find the villain who stole the superhero books.
