Snake reaches new heights, crawls on power lines

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Firefighters got a call from a frightened woman, because a large snake had crawled onto the power line outside her home.

Crews responded to her home on Malone Drive.

Firefighters determined it was an Oak Snake, which is not dangerous.

"We don't have any means to handle snakes. We made sure there was no danger to her, and just tried to comfort her and get her satisfied. [That's] the main thing," said Chief Ron Rowe.

Firefighters ended up leaving the snake on the power line.

They said they often get calls to rescue cats or dogs, but this was their first call about a snake.
