THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - Emergency Management Officials from South Georgia, North Florida, and South Alabama checked out new products and services available for this year's hurricane season.
The National Weather Service of Tallahassee conducted their Tri-State Hurricane Preparedness Day Thursday in Thomas County.
Emergency managers were challenged with a category-4 hurricane simulation.
They then discussed what they'd do from start to finish.
NWS Meteorologist Kelly Godsey said, “Whenever we have a tropical system come in, it's not just a local event, it's a regional event. And we all get to meet and understand each other's needs when we have these storms. That really gives us the opportunity to test things out before we have to go through the real thing.”
Godsey said they're predicting near normal to slightly below-normal activity this hurricane season.
