Woman indicted for gun-in-pants shooting

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Reco Moore was shot and killed in March, and his sister in law, Sophilia Willis was indicted yesterday by a Dougherty County grand jury for murder in his death. The two were struggling over a .45 pistol that Moore had stuffed in his pants, when it discharged, killing him.

Joshua Moore, the dead man's brother, and Willis' husband, told WALB's Jim Wallace that he was the closest witness to the shooting outside his home on Wingate Avenue, and didn't understand why police didn't believe his statement that the whole thing was an accident.

"My brother would not give her her gun back. And so therefore there was a struggle for the gun. It wasn't intentional. It was an accident," Moore said.
