Students help students transition to high school

Some Dougherty County high schoolers are helping rising 9th graders get adjusted.

Albany High senior Brandon Fenn is helping host a 2-week program called a high school preview.

Fenn says it's been done in the past, but they're revamping it to add some components. They mirrored a similar program at an Atlanta high school.

"We're doing a lot of college tours, we're kind of making the program a little bit more fun, but definitely academic focused because it is the summer, we do understand that students need a break," explained Fenn.

Organizers hope the program will help reduce the dropout rate.

It runs from June 15th through 26th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Applications are available at Westover or Albany high schools were the program will be held. You can also pick up an application at the administration building downtown.
