Albany business owner says crime "unbearable"

A downtown Albany business owner says crime is making his life "unbearable."

Jerry Lewis says a weekend burglary at A-Detail Shop in the 500 block of West Oglethorpe is the third break-in there in two years.

Thieves pulled back the metal walls and stole chemicals and car keys, though no cars were stolen.

Lewis discovered the break in about 1:30 Sunday morning when he stopped by to check his business, something he does often because of crime concerns.

Lewis said "I get up Out of my bed, sometimes 2, 3, 4 o-clock in the morning to come down here and check on my business.  Because three times is enough."

Lewis said the burglary will cost him about $500.

He's asking police and the community to keep an eye on his business to help protect it from thieves.
