ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Monday morning dozens gathered at American Legion Post 30 in Albany for a special Memorial Day breakfast.
Members of the community, as well as Congressman Sanford Bishop, were in attendance to give their respects to those we have lost in battle.
Special speaker Colonel Dan Gillian who served in the Marines for over 30 years, says today is a time to reflect and give thanks to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as their families.
He says the uniform and title is a reward you earn for an individual's hard work and dedication to their country.
"And that we realize that our future depends on our actions today. Our freedoms today are from their actions yesterday," said Colonel Dan Gillian, USMC Retired.
The breakfast concluded with a standing ovation to all branches of military.
