DAWSON, GA (WALB) - A Dawson Youth Center receives thousands of dollars in grants as it recognizes 160 students during an Honor's Day program tonight.
Positive Direction was awarded a $5,000 grant from Archer Daniels Midland Company to purchase technology equipment and art supplies.
It also got $2500 from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for field trips for their summer reading program.
The director says they're able to secure a lot of grants because of their successful programs and spotless audits.
"So we do what we're suppose to do with our funds and now we're having organizations that comes to us and just want to help and to see this program grow and to see how well the children are doing here in the community of Terrell County," said Dorothy Tomlin, Positive Direction Youth Center Director and Founder.
Each student also went home with a bag of food thanks to an Arby's Foundation grant the center got last year.
They'll kick off their summer enrichment program June 1st.
