ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Lee County School system is making sure their substitute teachers know they're appreciated.
Substitute coordinator Amy Bacon organized a luncheon for the subs today at Blackbeards in Albany. She says they're vital to the classroom and work hard all year making sure students continue to learn, even if their teacher isn't there.
"These people are great in the school systems and they play an important part when they're in that room. They're an intricate part to the school system and I just wanted a way to give back and say thanks to them everyday for the good job that they do." said Amy Bacon.
The substitutes showed up Thursday expecting to pay for lunch but were told the bills were taken care of by the Lee County School System.
Some also won door prizes.
