ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A full scale disaster exercise is part of what keeps Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital ready as the main referral center for South Georgia.
The hospital participated in a Georgia Region K disaster drill, aimed at preparing nursing homes, clinics, dialysis centers, assisted living homes, emergency management agencies, and the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Mock victims were rushed to the hospital in the drill, with realistic injuries and situations.
The Marine Corps Logistics Base of Albany also participated in the exercise.
Officials said they had been planning the exercise since last August.
