Holiday travelers will pay more to hit the road

Gas prices are surging as we approach Memorial Day weekend.

The national average has increased 32 of the last 34 days, but that isn't stopping travelers from planning their summer vacations.

Gas Buddy said 73% of people will travel between Memorial Day and Labor Day with most taking multiple trips.

One Leesburg man told us he'll have to save up to travel this summer.

"I'm going to have to save some money up because when I travel I go all the way down to the bottom of Florida. So it's going to cost me some money to go traveling,” said Lewis Hancock.

Despite recent price increases, the national average is about a dollar less than it's been at this time each of the last 3-years.
