THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -  A Thomasville mother is free on bond after admitting to deputies that she left her child in a car for close to three hours.

A deputy pulled over 33-year-old Latonya Hadley for a routine traffic stop around 2 a.m. Saturday.

The officer noticed a 4-year-old in the back.

Hadley claimed she had just picked her child up from a babysitter, but later admitted to leaving the child in the car while she was inside the American Legion on Hopkins Street.

Captain Steve Jones with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office said, “The child may have even been asleep in the car.  But what if the child woke up and got scared, didn't know where it was, got up and started wandering around?  And next thing you know, we're looking for a missing child.”

Hadley is charged with reckless conduct.
