Police don't believe motorcycle gangs are a problem in Albany

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Law enforcers in our area said we don't have a problem with outlaw motorcycle gangs in South Georgia.

They said most motorcycle groups here are clubs that are involved in community service projects such as toy and food drives.

Officers hope that deadly brawl in Texas doesn't give good motorcycle clubs a bad name.

“You don't want to paint a bad picture over all motorcycle clubs because a lot of motorcycle clubs here in the Southwest Georgia area they are members of some of the more professional people within the city and town and one thing they have in common they all love riding motorcycles and anything they can do for the community they all pull together and do the best they can,” said Capt. Michael Persley, APD.

Albany Police said if they got tips of a motorcycle gang operating here they would investigate quickly to make sure they're not breaking laws.
