THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -  Students at a Thomasville Elementary school got to pour 15 buckets of ice cold water on two teachers Friday.

Harper Elementary school teacher Zana Spell challenged her third, fourth, and fifth grade students to read one million words by the end of the school year.

To motivate them, she came up with an Ice Book It Challenge, allowing them to douse her with frigid water for reaching the goal.

Spell said, “To tell you the truth, I kind of got really nervous around 12 o'clock thinking, ‘What have I gotten myself into?' But it's all good.  It's for a good cause and I really feel that the children have worked hard.”

The students will receive trophies at the end of the year along with a Kindle or a Nook as prizes for their accomplishment.
