Publisher's Clearing House Scam resurfaces in Tifton

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Tifton law enforcement says two citizens that have fallen prey to the Publisher's Clearing House Scam, recently.

A criminal calls and tells the victim that they have won $950,000 in the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes. But before they can get it, they have to pay the required taxes. 


The first Tifton victim was told $950, and the second victim was told $800, for Federal and $800 for the State of Georgia.


"The man stays on the phone with them while they get a MoneyGram and gets it processed. Needless to say, they are out of their money as soon as that happens," said Lt. Lee Dunston of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Tifton Police Department.

This is a recurring scam and Tifton PD wanted people to be aware of it.
