Publix donates to United Way

TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Publix is helping out United Way with their mission of giving back to the community.

Today in Tifton, all together the store raised more than $50,000 for United Way charities. This will help them serve Tift County, and the surrounding areas including Turner, Cook, Irwin, and Ben Hill County.

"We are trying to help the children, we don't want kids going hungry after school or over the weekend. We want to feed the homeless, we have different agencies that we help with the homeless, we help with the boys and girls club,” says Pat McKinnon, United Way Executive Director.

"Publix believes giving back to the communities we operate in, and we do that in a lot of different way, and this is one of the ways, but we have several different campaigns, " Philip Harrison, District Manager.

The Publix in Lee County also raised a little over $33,000 for United Way.
