ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With the weather warming up and school about to get out safety advocates want to remind you about swimming safety.
They say parents need to educate their children about the dangers.
The Albany Area YMCA teaches students the importance of having a buddy around water.
They're gearing up for their 2-week 45-minute group swim lessons.
“We tend to see based on trends that every time a child repeats the process day after day as opposed to letting time lapse between. Their skills start to build and chances are after about two weeks of lessons they're swimming,” said Rachel Ortegon, YMCA Aquatic Director.
The YMCA is also offering life guard training courses to high school and college students June 12 through 15th.
