THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -  The Thomasville Police Department is determined to solve a brutal murder from five years ago.

Police discovered the body of 44-year-old Kenneth Mickens at Providence Plaza Apartments on Mother's Day weekend in 2010.

Investigators said hundreds of leads in Thomas and Grady counties never panned out.

Lieutenant Maurice Holmes, who was originally assigned to the case, said he wants to bring some closure to Mickens' mother.

“When I look into his mother's eyes, I see the pain.  When I hear her talk, I feel the pain.  She has not forgotten this.  It's like it just happened.  She's been through a lot.  It was her only son and they were very close,” said Lt. Holmes.

The $1,500 reward offered five years ago still stands.
