The Phoebe foundation is asking for donations to build resident housing .They've raised more than a million dollars so far.

Phoebe leaders say if  medical students finish school and do their residency here, they are more likely to stay and practice within a 60-mile radius.

Phoebe showed WALB New 10 the first look at the proposed resident housing that is planned for Jackson street near the hospital.

Board member Jay Sharpe says, "If you've gone to the doctor recently not many doctors are accepting more patients so it's a problem. The more doctors we are able to get to the community the more jobs it will create."

Several breakfasts are planned for area businesses interested in the project.

Groundbreaking is tentatively scheduled for November.
