Impaired man is missing in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Maxwell Ferguson, 59, of Baymeadow Drive, Valdosta, is missing. He wandered away from his home on May 8, 2015 and has not returned.

Feguson has Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia and is considered an Endangered Missing Adult. He was last seen on May 9, 2015 around 5:30 p.m. in the Baymeadows Drive area and was wearing black sweat pants and white t shirt.

Police are searching areas in the vicinity of Ferguson's residence.

A Mattie's Call is being initiated through the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Mattie's Call is an emergency missing alert for disabled or elderly persons. The alert is an investigative tool that can be activated by a local law enforcement agency.

Family members are concerned for Ferguson's safety due to his medical issues. Anyone having any information on the whereabouts of Ferguson should call 911 immediately or contact their local law enforcement agency and report the information they have.

As a reminder, persons that are considered missing, whether endangered (child, elderly, ill) or not, should be reported to local law enforcement authorities immediately. There is no “waiting period” or time that has to elapse before reporting someone missing.
