BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Bainbridge Public Safety officers arrested 24-year-old Cody Plamondon after they found several Oxycontin pills in his pocket.

Officers received a tip Friday afternoon that Plamondon had bought the drugs at a nearby housing project.

Officers said after he agreed to be searched, they found 11 Oxycontin pills.

Investigator Chip Nix said, “We've seen a rise in the prescription drug abuse and the number of people that we've arrested for abusing or selling prescription drugs.  It's kind of been one of those problems that we're trying to get a handle on.”

Plamondon was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a park or housing project.
