Valdosta probationer arrested for armed robbery

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Last Monday, May 4, a Dollar General employee was sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot about 1:30 in the morning, when an armed man walked up and demanded money. She said she had no money, and the man jumped into a black vehicle, and left.A probation officer with the Valdosta probation office recognized the person as possibly being a probationer named Chad Griffis, who lives in Naylor.

Detectives arrested Griffis for violation of probation, and today was charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery.

Griffis remains in the Lowndes County Jail, and will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court soon for an arraignment hearing where a bond will considered.

Sheriff Chris Prine called the arrest "A good example of law enforcement communicating with each other to solve crime."
