Low gas prices this Memorial Day weekend

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Triple A says drivers traveling on Memorial Day weekend will pay some of the lowest prices in the last five years.

Right now the National Average for a gallon of unleaded is $2.65, in Georgia the average is $2.55.

Folks here say as long as the gas prices stay below three dollars they're happy.

Others say they pay close attention because gas prices are more expensive the further north you travel.

“As long as it stays below three dollars its fine. I drive a Yukon so I was filling up for about 40 dollars when it was under two dollars,” says Albany resident Maurice Wright.

"The further you go north or south the gas prices are higher and South Georgia has some of the lowest gas prices which is too high for this area but the further you go the gas prices are higher so you pay close attention,” says Albany Derrick Thomas.
