Off-duty police officer killed in early morning crash

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) -  Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal car accident that killed an off-duty Boston Police officer early this morning.

The accident occurred on Highway 84 East around 6:45 a.m.

The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck, 31-year-old J.C. Williams, had stopped at Glem Drive to drop off a passenger.

When Williams merged back onto Highway 84, he struck 32-year-old Justin Rouse, who was riding his motorcycle.

Rouse was immediately ejected from the motorcycle into the median.

Rouse was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Williams complained of minor leg injuries, but was not taken to the hospital.

Charges are pending as GSP continues to investigate the accident.
