LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Folks from churches around South Georgia are in Albany for a Christian golf tournament.

The 12th annual Wesley Cup Tournament kicked included a barbeque dinner tonight at Grand Island Country Club in Lee County.

At least 40 golfers are participating in the tournament to raise money for Flynn Bridges' non-profit organization called Student ministries.

The former sideline reporter for UGA football radio broadcasts, Loran Smith, was tonight's guest speaker.

"My remarks have to do with walking on the light side, have fun, enjoy life,” said Loran Smith.

"Flynn goes into the public high schools in our area and he witnesses to the kids for the love of the Lord Jesus Christ,” said Price Corr, Wesley Cup Chairman.

Organizers hope to beat the $12,000 they raised last year.

Breakfast will be served Saturday at 6:45.

Golfers tee off beginning at 8.
