Cops On Doughnut Shops raises money for Special Olympians

You can enjoy a sweet treat while helping others this weekend.

The 9th Annual Cops On Doughnut Shops campaign is underway at the Albany Krispy Kreme at North Slappey Boulevard and Pine Avenue.

Officers from the Albany and Dougherty County Police Departments and Dougherty County Sheriff's Office are collecting money to send Dougherty County special olympians to the State Special Olympics.

Eugene Freeman donated and said "I think that's a very good cause.  These children deserve more respect than we could ever give them."

Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul said "It goes for travel, for lodging, for food, to offset the cost of the medals and the referees' fees."

The cops will be at the Albany Krispy Kreme until 10 Friday night, and back again from 7 to 10 Saturday collecting donations for Special Olympics. Their goal is $15,000. A good way to feel really good while treating yourself.
