CAIRO, GA (WALB) - A south Georgia motocross training facility showed their appreciation for the men and women in uniform.
Riders came out Friday for a Military Appreciation Camp at Millsaps Training Facility.
But the riders weren't competing for a prize.
They were enjoying a weekend with their parents, who are normally away serving our country.
Aidan McMonigle dad Patrick served 11 years in the Marine Corps, and the last seven years in the Reserves.
“I get to spend time with him now, because I don't get to see him that much from being in the military,” said Aidan.
They came to Millsaps to brush up on their riding and meet families just like them.
Aidan's father Patrick said, “Nobody's really competitive. Everybody's out here to learn and have a good time. And within an hour, we already have a bunch of new friends.”
Millsaps Trainer Bryan Johnson said military families from hundreds of miles away come to this Military Appreciation Camp to ride.
The camp is more than just getting a little mud on the tires.
“The people that come through here, what they've been through and what they've done for us, it's amazing. So it's the least we can do. It means a lot to them, but they've done so much more for us,” said Johnson.
Aidan said he plans to come back next year to learn new tricks and spend more time with his dad.
