VHS senior wins new car

A Valdosta High School Senior had a new car Friday afternoon thanks to a Valdosta car dealership and thanks to her hard work in school.

Friday afternoon, the high school held its 3rd annual "keys to the future" event where 15 seniors, chosen for their good grades and good attendance, selected a car key at random and the one with the key that unlocked the car got to keep the car.

The other 14 students got laptops.

Winner Kayla Adkins said the car will help her get around at Middle Tennessee State College, where she plans to attend after graduating from VHS.

"Downtown Nashville's hard to drive in, so it's good that it's so small so I can parallel park and not hit anybody," said Adkins, as she laughed with excitement.

A representative from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College also presented two $500 scholarships to two seniors.
