Decatur Co. man convicted of incest, rape

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Assistant District Attorney David Atwell says that Gregory Bernard Murphy, Sr. was convicted Thursday, of raping a female family member.

He was charged with one count of Rape, Incest, and Child Molestation. He was tried as a recidivist, based upon three prior convictions. 

Murphy was found guilty on all three counts and was sentenced to Life without parole by Judge A. Wallace Cato.

Sheriff's Investigator Cheryl Roberts Nix collected all the evidence for presentation at the trial on Thursday. 

Gregory Murphy, Sr. raped and engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim between July 6, 2012 and July 31, 2014.
