Valdosta man indicted, accused of beating dog to death

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A Valdosta man had been indicted as of Thursday, suspected of beating a dog to death with a shovel.

According to the indictment, the incident happened on July 18th, 2014. According to the incident report from the case, Daniel Ward Hopkins, Jr., also known as Daniel Torres, hit a Chihuahua-mix dog in the head with a shovel at 2416 Seth Pl., killing the dog.

As of Thursday afternoon, Hopkins, Jr. was charged with one count of aggravated animal cruelty and had not been arrested.
