EMA officials urge early start for hurricane preparedness

We're still a few weeks from hurricane season, but emergency managers say we need to prepare early.

The National Hurricane Center is watching a storm in the Caribbean that could impact Georgia in five days.

Forecasters predict a below average storm season, but emergency management officials don't want you to take any chances.

Dougherty County EMA Deputy Director Jim Vaught said  "They say you should make a plan now.that they have a designated room within their house that they consider a safe room.  That they have a supply kit with those things they think they will need so if we lose power for up to 72 hours.  And a plan."
