Firework are now legal in Georgia.
Fireworks have been legally sold in all neighboring states except North Carolina.
Supporters of the bill the Governor signed Tuesday say black market sales are more dangerous than regulated sales.
Doctors, public safety officials, and firefighters were among the groups that opposed the bill.
"We're always concerned about anything that's going to mean more injuries, to people," said Albany Fire Department Assistant Chief Eugene Anderson. "Possibility of death. And more people going to the E.R."
Representative Jay Roberts of Ocilla sponsored the bill, saying Georgia was losing tax money and jobs because of the ban.
