THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -  Folks all over Thomasville ordered pizza Tuesday for a good cause.

Papa John's Pizza on Jackson Street agreed to donate the day's net profit to benefit the family of Corporal Malcolm Hurst.

Hurst was 53 when he passed away in April after battling cancer for over a year.

The funds raised between 11 a.m.-11 p.m. will help the family with various expenses.

Alicia Pendleton, who organized the fundraiser, said, “People that don't even know Malcolm or Linda Hurst have just really stepped up to the point where I walk out of businesses in tears.  I could not have asked to live in a better place.”

Another fundraising event for the Hurst family is scheduled for May 16th at the Board Office across from Wendy's.
