CAIRO, GA (WALB) - Volunteer firefighters in Grady County now have new and improved equipment to help them better respond to emergencies.
The Spence Station received a $3,000 grant from the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company. They bought 35 new flashlights called "Survivor Lights."
The new equipment helps volunteers responding to overnight incidents as well as fires.
"These lights help us be able to locate ourselves, orient ourselves, and be able to perform our duties inside the home to keep it as safe as possible," said Chief Rusty Hough of the Spence Volunteer Fire Dept.
The two volunteer departments in north Grady County will share the new equipment.
